Right after I joined TWD and received my big, beautiful book in the mail, I poured through it recipe by recipe thinking to myself, “if it were my turn to choose, which one would I pick?” My answer? Cinnamon Squares! I was so glad to see a like-minded baker in Tracey. Reading the comments posted about this recipe, it’s pretty clear to see two sides – the chocolate-cinnamon lovers, and the rest. I fall into the former group and was excited to give this a try.
The only thing I changed was instead of a full coating of frosting, I drizzled it on…we’ve had a string of warm, humid days here and something about all that frosting just didn’t seem right! I thought the cake was really quite good though – not too sweet at all, and I loved the dark chocolate/cinnamon/espresso flavor. I’d definitely make it again.
